10th Planet founder – Eddie Bravo
Eddie Bravo (1970, USA) first began training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 1994. Looking for a way to stay fit while pursuing his music career, he joined his local BJJ Club in LA, run by Jean Jacques Machado. Bringing some of his wrestling moves learnt during high school to the mat, Eddie began to find some success and his passion for the sport developed.
Pursuing new ways to improve his basic fundamentals, Eddie began modifying moves and developing new ones to submit his opponents. Growing success in the no-gi tournament scene, Eddie continued to develop his skills and in 2002 he won the Abu Dhabi North American Trials lightweight division, in San Diego, California, earning the Most Technical Fighter of the Night award.
He then went onto the 2003 Abu Dhabi Championships in San Paulo, Brazil, where he secured a submission win over legendary Royler Gracie, the first American to ever submit him. It was after this victory that Eddie opened his first 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Academy in LA so that he could develop his unique style of Jiu Jitsu on a full time basis.
10TH PLANET JIU -JITSU ACKOWLEDGES THE NECCESSITY OF EXPERIMENTATION, THE PROCESS OF CHANGE AND THE RECOGNITION OF VALUE IN ALL STYLES OF GRAPPLING. WITH THIS IN MIND, 10TH PLANET AVOIDS STAGNATION AND CONTINOUSLY EVOLVES WITH A SPORT THAT IS CONSTANTLY CHANGING AT A RAPID RATE.
“What separates 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu from other styles is its innovation and evolution. Some of the moves such as, ‘The Rubber Guard”, the ”Twister” and the “Lock Down”, have taken the Jiu Jitsu community by storm because of their originality and effectiveness.”
Known world-wide as one of the most innovative, passionate, and systematic BJJ instructors, Eddie’s game is slowly changing the face of MMA.
What separates 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu from other styles is its innovation and evolution. Some of the moves such as, ‘The Rubber Guard”, the ”Twister” and the “Lock Down”, have taken the Jiu Jitsu community by storm because of their originality and effectiveness.
The moves are so different that opponents do not know how to react to them and they leave the practitioner in a unique position to execute them with little to no defence from their opponent. 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu focuses on constant attacks from unorthodox positions.
Moreover, the beauty of the system does not stop there: Eddie and his students are constantly inventing new moves and counters to old moves in order to keep the style relevant and functioning. So, where other systems cease to grow, 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu finds itself in a situation where its entire focus is to continue its own growth.
Head Coach London – JAmie Scott
Jamie has trained in a mixture of combat sports and martial arts for most of his life and has always enjoyed competing and helping others to achieve there goals.
In order to evolve as a MMA fighter Jamie decided to train in Jiu Jitsu to enhance his ground game – immediately he fell in love with it – and has since trained under many high level Black Belts both GI and NOGI. During preparation for his first pro MMA fight Jamie discovered Eddie Bravo and the 10th Planet System and quickly realised that much of what he was now learning wasn’t taught at other Jiu Jitsu schools, techniques that really helped his crossover into professional MMA.
10th Planet Jiu Jitsu was the missing link that he had been searching for and is now a major part of his fighting DNA. Jamie has been training in 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu for over a decade and is graded under his “Guvnor” Eddie Bravo. He is now on a quest to build an army of modern day Jiu Jitsu warriors to dominate the UK and European competition scene.
